CarNow Alternative for Car Dealerships
CarNow is a strong platform with real traction in automotive, and for some stores it is the right call. This page lays out what it is great at, where Dealer Funnel differs, and how to decide, using only what each vendor says publicly. No mudslinging: you would see through it anyway.
CARNOW FACTS: THEIR OWN PUBLIC MATERIALS, ACCESSED AUG 2026
CarNow is built to convert website traffic
An AI conversion platform for dealerships: website chat, digital retail, and shop-by-payment deal tools with a BDC-backed managed service, sitting on top of the CRM you already run.
Dealer Funnel is the system of record
Every channel lands in one team inbox, Carly answers new leads by text, Voice AI picks up the phones, reps work a built-in soft phone, and a deal board carries the working deal.
So it's really one question
Do you want the deepest tool for converting website shoppers on top of your CRM, or one dealership platform your desk runs the floor on? Answer that and the choice mostly makes itself.
What CarNow is great at
Per carnow.com (accessed Aug 2026), CarNow calls itself an “AI Conversion Platform for Auto Dealerships,” says it partners with more than 4,000 dealers, and is an in-program/certified partner with most major OEMs. Its core is a website engagement layer: AI-backed website chat, digital retail and “Shop by Payment,” InstantPrice payment quotes, and conversational CTAs that move shoppers toward a deal online. It layers messaging across chat, text, and social with a BDC-backed managed service marketed as “24/7, 365,” and cites an average conversion rate around 77%.
Newer add-ons extend this: +AI summarizes conversations and suggests replies for staff “without ever replacing the human touch,” and ReConnect is a CRM add-on that runs automated SMS follow-up campaigns. Website digital retail, conversational commerce, deep OEM certifications and co-op eligibility, and a human-plus-AI BDC model are genuine strengths. If converting website traffic on top of the CRM you already run is your first priority, CarNow belongs on your shortlist. We would rather tell you that plainly than pretend otherwise.
Where Dealer Funnel differs
CarNow is deliberately a shopper-facing engagement layer that sits on top of the dealer’s existing CRM/DMS. Dealer Funnel is the system of record. Every channel lands in one team inbox, Carly answers new leads by text in seconds around the clock, Voice AI picks up inbound phone calls, and reps work calls on a built-in soft phone with a power dialer and recording. On top of that sits a deal board that carries the working deal, plus Google-review management and dealership reporting.
The business terms are dealership-shaped too. Pricing is published from $1,249 per rooftop per month, month to month, where CarNow’s pricing is quote-only. Where CarNow is genuinely stronger, on-site digital retail and shop-by-payment, and deep OEM co-op programs, we say so above rather than pretend otherwise.
Side by side, from public materials
These two solve different halves of the funnel, so some rows are green on both sides and others split. Where CarNow’s public materials do not mention something, we say so instead of guessing.
| CAPABILITY | Dealer FunnelAdds to the CRM you keep | CarNowAI conversion platform for auto dealerships |
|---|---|---|
| Built only for car dealerships | Purpose-built for auto dealerships; the only vertical served | "AI Conversion Platform for Auto Dealerships"; 4,000+ dealers, most major OEM programs |
| Website live chat / conversational commerce | Embeddable live-chat widget feeds the same unified inbox | Core strength: AI-backed website chat/messaging, BDC-backed "24/7, 365," ~77% avg conversion |
| Digital retail / online buying tools (shop-by-payment, credit app, deal) | Dealer Funnel focuses on lead engagement, not on-site digital retail / online checkout | Genuine strength: "Shop by Payment," InstantPrice payment quotes, remote deal-completion tools |
| AI text on new leads | Carly AI drafts/sends SMS replies to leads inside the inbox | ReConnect runs automated SMS campaigns and "SMS has AI that helps schedule appointments"; +AI is staff-assist (suggests replies), not fully autonomous |
| AI inbound phone answering (voice AI) | Voice AI answers inbound calls; AI receptionist routing to departments | Not publicly listed — CarNow's public materials describe chat/text/digital retail, not inbound AI voice answering |
| Unified inbox across channels | One team inbox spanning SMS, voice, email, Facebook and live chat | Engages across chat/text/social and +AI works inside messaging, but a single omnichannel staff inbox (incl. voice/email) is not marketed |
| Built-in soft phone / in-app calling | In-browser softphone: place/receive calls, power dialer, recording | Not publicly listed — no in-app calling/soft phone described in CarNow's materials |
| Deals / opportunity pipeline (system of record) | Built-in Deals/Opportunities pipeline object | By design a shopper-facing layer on top of the dealer's existing CRM/DMS; ReConnect is "a CRM add-on," not the CRM |
| Google review management | Google-review requests, monitoring and AI-assisted replies | Not publicly listed in CarNow's materials |
| Reporting & analytics | Multiple reports (sold deals, lead equity, Carly coverage, call/voice, dashboards) | Publishes conversion metrics (e.g., ~77%) and lead prioritization/intent scoring, but no standalone reporting product is detailed publicly |
| OEM certifications & CRM/DMS integrations | Integrates with dealer CRMs/DMSs (eLeads, VinSolutions, DealerSocket, Tekion, etc.); fewer formal OEM co-op programs | Genuine strength: in-program with most major OEMs and integrates on top of existing DMS/CRM (e.g., CDK) |
| Published month-to-month pricing | Public pricing from $1,249/mo | Not publicly listed — pricing is quote-only; no plans or contract terms published |
In the CarNow column, “not publicly listed” means we could not find the capability in their public materials as of Aug 2026. It never means the capability doesn’t exist. In the Dealer Funnel column it simply means we don’t offer it. Vendors evolve; check their site, and tell us if something here is out of date. We’ll keep this honest.

How to decide
CarNow might be the better fit if…
- Your top priority is converting website traffic: AI chat plus online digital-retail and “shop-by-payment” deal tools, with a managed BDC behind them.
- You want to keep your existing CRM as the system of record and add a shopper-facing engagement layer on top of it.
- On-site digital retail matters to you: InstantPrice quotes and remote deal-completion tools that move shoppers toward a deal online.
- OEM co-op eligibility is a factor; CarNow is in-program with most major OEMs.
Dealer Funnel might be the better fit if…
- You want software that only does dealerships and owns the record: a deal board for the working deal, dealership reporting, and CRM/DMS integrations.
- Your reps live on the phone: a built-in soft phone with a power dialer and recording, in the same tab as every text, with Voice AI answering inbound calls when they cannot.
- You want one team inbox across SMS, voice, email, Facebook, and live chat, with Carly answering new leads by text.
- You want to see prices before you talk to anyone: from $1,249 per rooftop, month to month.
- You want built-in Google-review management: requests, monitoring, and AI-assisted replies.
STILL UNSURE? ASK ONE QUESTION: DO WE NEED THE DEEPEST TOOL FOR CONVERTING WEBSITE SHOPPERS ON TOP OF OUR CRM, OR ONE DEALERSHIP PLATFORM THAT OWNS THE RECORD AND RUNS THE FLOOR? THEN PUT BOTH IN FRONT OF YOUR BDC. BOOK FIFTEEN MINUTES AND SEE OURS RUN ON A LIVE STORE.
